Montreal, April 24, 2007 — A pair of acclaimed and award-winning feature films released by Atopia Distribution will be hitting New York screens this Spring. Heidi Specogna’s The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez, which launched in competition at Sundance 2006, kicks off a week-long engagement on April 27 at Anthology Film Archives. On May 2, Sophie Deraspe’s Missing Victor Pellerin starts its own one-week run, at the Two Boots Pioneer Theatre, in its US theatrical premiere after a critically-celebrated Canadian run.

The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez will continue its US theatrical run this Spring with engagements in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin and Dallas, with additional cities to be announced shortly. It will air on the Sundance Channel in 2008.

In other news, Atopia has joined forces with the indie/arthouse download start-up Jaman, and will be offering its international slate of feature films for download day-and-date with its DVD launches. From its inception, Atopia has been a figure on the digital scene and is now the first Canadian company to join the growing Jaman community.
