ATOPIA presents five films at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois!

Montreal, Thursday February 14, 2008 — Atopia Distribution is proud to present five feature films at the 26th edition of the Rendez-vous du Cinéma québécois, taking place in Montreal from February 14th to February 24th, 2008. These films include On the Trail of Igor Rizzi [Sur la trace d’Igor Rizzi] by Noël Mitrani, Antlers [Panache] by André-Line Beauparlant, The Other Side of the Country [De l’autre côté du pays] by Catherine Hébert, The 4th Life by François Miron and Denis Coté’s .

Presented at the Venise Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006 where it won the Award for Best Canadian feature, Noël Mitrani’s first feature film On the Trail of Igor Rizzi [Sur la trace d’Igor Rizzi] will be screening on February 17th at 2pm, at the Salle Jutra at La Cinémathèque Québécoise.

Recently nominated for a Genie in the Best documentary category, Antlers [Panache] (Panache) by André-Line Beauparlant, will be presented on February 24th at 6pm at the NFB. The Other Side of the Country [De l’autre côté du pays], a documentary which plunges us into the 20 year-old Ugandan civil war, will be featured on February 24th at 4pm at the salle Fernand Seguin (Cinémathèque Québécoise). The stylistic «thriller» The 4th Life by François Miron will be screened in the A taste of rendez-vous section, Wednesday February 20th at 6:45pm, at the New Cinema du Parc. After screening in many prestigious festivals — including Locarno and Toronto, as well as Reykjavik (Island), Gand (Belgium) and Tuebingen (Germany) — and after its Canadian theatrical release last November, Denis Côté’s , shot in Québec in Bulgarian, will be presented in the 100 % indépendant section Saturday, February 16th at 5:15pm at the Salle Claude Jutras — Écran Radio-Canada.

Atopia is also proud to announce its upcoming release of three new feature films this fall 2008: Who is KK Downey? by the Kidnapper Films group, by André Forcier and by Denis Côté.
