Atopia’s slate for 2008!

Montreal, Monday September 3 — Atopia Distribution is pleased to announce the acquisition of four new Quebec-based feature films: Nemesis by Marc-André Forcier, Elle veut le Chaos by Denis Côté, The Other Side of the Country by Catherine Hébert, and Who is K.K. Downey? by Pat Kiely and Darren Curtis.

Nemesis, the 12th feature by Marc-André Forcier, starring Rémy Girard, Roy Dupuis, Céline Bonnier, France Castel and Hélène Bourgeois-Leclerc, is a family drama set in Northern Quebec during the 1950’s. The production is scheduled for Autumn 2007.

Elle veut le Chaos, Denis Côté’s 3rd feature, starring Ève Duranceau, Nicolas Canuel and Laurent Lucas, is the story of a rebellious young woman whose life teeters precariously between two warring gangs.

The Other Side of the Country, 1st documentary feature by Catherine Hébert, plunges us into the heart of the 20 year-old Ugandan civil war.

Who is K.K. Downey? is the debut feature produced by Montreal’s Kidnapper Films. Starring Pat Kiely and Darren Curtis (who also directed), as well as Matt Silver and Dan Haber, Who is K.K. Downey? is a comedy about two impostors who will stop at nothing to become famous.

Atopia is a Montreal based film production, distribution and sales company. Since its inception in 2000, the company has produced and released a string of award-winning feature films including A Silent Love which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004 and On the Trail of Igor Rizzi which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won the Best First Canadian Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006.

Atopia’s domestic distribution branch releases its in-house productions as well as a selection of equally insightful films such as Missing Victor Pellerin (2006) and The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez (2006) to audiences across the US and Canada. Our films are screened at major festivals around the world, then released in art-house and commercial theatres to garner wide media exposure, prior to launching them on DVD and on the Internet via download.
