Montreal — Tuesday Octobre 29, 2007 — This past Friday, Atopia unspooled The District at Montreal’s Cinema du Parc, where it is booked for a 2-week run, and the local press was fittingly floored:

“Fans of animation, street culture and fever-dream creativity should be jumping métro turnstiles on their way to Cinéma du Parc right now… Move over, South Park. This is satire, Budapest style… The District has to be seen to be believed, and you really should. — 4 Stars” The Montreal Gazette

“Un film d’animation hongrois complètement dément, qui marie humour juvénile, satire politique (Bush, Poutine, Ben Laden et plusieurs autres font des apparitions), une histoire d’amour impossible à la Roméo et Juliette, et même des numéros musicaux où les personnages se mettent à rapper.”Voir

“Budapest Bizarre. The world’s first Hungarian animated quasi-political sexually explicit rap musical. Really… freaky”The Montreal Mirror

The animation is fast-paced, superbly raunchy and so vivid that it makes Waking Life look sleepy by comparison” — The McGill Tribune

The District will be screening nightly at Cinema Du Parc through to November 8. This is a film that truly demands to be seen in 35mm on the big screen so if you’re in or near Montreal, we urge you to check it out. To quote a great, fallen iconoclast: “buy the ticket, take the ride”.
