Montreal — Tuesday November 6, 2007 — ATOPIA is pleased to announce that Montreal filmmaker Noël Mitrani’s first feature-length film, On The Trail of Igor Rizzi, will hit Canadian DVD shelves on November 6th!

After an exceptional run at the festivals (Critics Week — Venice, Toronto International Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, Thessaloniki), On the Trail of Igor Rizzi received the award for Best First Canadian Feature and inclusion in Canada’s Top Ten list organized by the Toronto International Film Festival. Screened in many theatres across Quebec as well as in Toronto and Vancouver, the movie has been praised by critics and audiences alike.

A grief-stricken and destitute French ex-soccer player has moved to Montreal, the home town of his lost love, in an effort to recapture her presence. He is haunted by the regret of never having told her how much he loved her. To earn money he accepts to kill a certain Igor Rizzi…

A graduate of History and Philosophy at the Sorbonne, and for some time a press illustrator, Noël Mitrani launched into cinema via writing. He directed his first short film After Shave in 1999, a moving comedy set in a suburban supermarket. Three other short films followed, the last of which Les Siens addresses the confusion possible between dream and reality.
